ABC goldsmith techniques

Rolling consists in passing metal between two steel rollers with systematic pressing, which reduces thickness while increasing the length of the workpiece. This allows you to prepare the appropriate sheets and flat bars, from which then we construct the jewelry.

Dragging is done using a special steel plate with holes of smaller and smaller diameter. As a result, we obtain the wire of the required dimension from the pre-rolled material.

Forging is the machining of a sheet metal element with the purpose of its embossing. Puncines are used for this, which are used either together with a matching so-called anka (a concave element corresponding to the dimensions of punc), or by free forging on a substrate of lead.

Soldering is a method of permanently joining elements using solder, a metal alloy (the same one that is soldered) with a lower melting temperature than the soldered elements. Heat the soldered parts so that the solder melts, penetrating into both joined parts without causing them to melt.

Sawing is used for both correcting (removing imperfections, for example after soldering) and for shaping the shape of jewelery elements.

Polishing is intended to give the surface a gloss. We obtain it using the appropriate polishing pastes as well as brushes and material discs.
